Owner, Urgent Kidz Care
Our Caring Staff : Our Savannah Urgent Care Pediatric Clinics
Urgent Kidz Care is the passion project and vision of J. Craig Gordon, a native of Savannah.
J Craig Gordon is a Georgia native, born and raised in the public school system of Savannah/Chatham County.
He attended Georgia’s oldest State HBCU Savannah State University and graduated from Armstrong Atlantic University. During his time in college, he helped his father Charles L Gordon organize Savannah’s Chapter of the 100 Black Men of America Inc, protested for better living conditions for SSU’s Campus and became a Hyatt fellow in New York.
Post graduation, J Craig worked for Disney/MGM Studios, in Orlando which gave him an opportunity to understand the ins and outs of studio sound stage space.
From there he accepted a position with SMG during the final stages of Construction of Savannah’s International Trade Center. This opportunity helped Craig’s knowledge and understanding of large-scale development and the facility operations after. Three years into his time with SMG, J Craig received his call of a lifetime, which was from his dad Charles to help take their family business Statewide. Within two years Statewide Healthcare Inc was in 6 cities, two states and over 300 employees.
While at Statewide Healthcare, J Craig pursued his pollical interests and with the help of close family and friends ran for Georgia’s House of Representatives. He won and was sworn into office in 2007 and held the seat until retirement in 2021. During his term he helped bring close to a billion dollars back to Savannah/Chatham County, helped strengthen Georgia’s Entertainment Tax Credit, Co-Authored the bill that funded Technical School Scholarships Via HOPE; helped sponsor and pass Georgia’s first Hate Law and lead the charge for the largest restitution payment in Georgia’s history for 4 veterans wrongly imprisoned.
Post retirement, J Craig wanted the next chapter of his life to be something that would incorporate everything that he has learned over the last 20 years. After many talks with Statewide’s Board of directors, staff and close friend and former NFL player Josh Mallard. UKC came to light. Which is an approach to healthcare as friendly as Disney, but as trusted as a major pediatric group. With a mission to help children, parents, and local pediatricians by changing the perception of healthcare and loosening anxiety. J. Craig Gordon is charged to bring healing and smiles to Savannah.
