Well, hello there, everyone! As we continue to celebrate Black History Month, I want to shine a light on one remarkable individual who made a big difference in the fight for civil rights: Hosea Williams. Now, you might not have heard his name as often as some other civil rights leaders, but let me tell you, he was a force to be reckoned with.

And guess what else? He’s perhaps best known for his time in Atlanta, but he spent time living right here in Savannah! Hosea Williams is proof that everyone has a voice that they can use to make a difference.

Hosea Williams: Standing Up and Making A Difference

Hosea Williams wasn’t just your average activist – he was a true champion for change. He marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the historic Selma to Montgomery marches, risking his life and welfare to stand up for what was right. Hosea wasn’t just about marching; he was also a master organizer, rallying communities and inspiring people to join the cause.

Now, here’s the thing about Hosea Williams – he wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. Whether it was organizing protests, registering voters, or leading boycotts, he was always on the front lines, fighting tooth and nail for equality and justice. And let me tell you, his efforts weren’t in vain. He became active in politics and used his voice there to exact change. He embodied “be the change you want to see in the world.” Now that’s some inspiration we can get on board with!

Thanks to Hosea Williams and countless others like him, we’ve made strides toward a more just and equal society. As we celebrate Black History Month, let’s honor the legacy of Hosea Williams, Savannahns, and Georgians everywhere by continuing to push for progress and standing up, doing what’s right, and making a positive impact on our community.

Thank you for continuing to celebrate Black History Month with us. We want to be a force for good and health right here in Savannah.
